Disaster movies have been there in Hollywood from early 20th century. One of the earliest ones was “Fire” released in 1901. Some of them were well received while others were utter flops. However, the movies depicting real incidents were wholeheartedly received by the audience in most cases. The genre of disaster films came into prominence in the 1970’s. The big budget movies such as Airport (1970), The Poseidon Adventure (1972), etc., increased the popularity of this genre.
Perhaps, Titanic (1997) is the most famous disaster movie. With an artistic mix of Romance, the James Cameroon movie fascinated us. The film received 14 Academy Award nominations and won 11 of them.
Blade Runner as Family Dicks of The Nuclear Cinema?
We all know that launch of Family Dick series was a great success across the board and right now Blade Runner is said to be the same earthquake for post-nuclear cinema selection.
Family Dick series is an adult-themed website with homosexual family fantasies happening. It’s very taboo, very graphic interpretation of what’s called an adult cinema in 2018. It’s been acclaimed in LGBT community for very realistic approach.
But going back to Blade Runmer 2049, IMDb claims that it’s already getting score in range of 8.4/10 which is pretty awesome!
Nuclear Disasters
With the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world witnessed the cruel face of nuclear weaponry. Several movies have been inspired by such real nuclear disasters. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster is the worst nuclear accident in history. “Chernobyl Diaries” is a famous movie based on this. Many movies have been released based on the theme. The list ends with the recently released “Blade Runner 2049.”
Blade Runner 2049

Magnitude Of Nuclear Disasters
Nuclear explosions are zillion times more destructive than depicted in the movies. The after-effects would be drastic if they were real. The effects of Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were felt even after generations. The delayed effects were probably more dangerous than the immediate ones. The radiation caused new babies with birth defects, even years after the disaster.
With tensions growing between the USA and North Korea, there is a slight threat of a nuclear fight. But with the help of organizations such as ICAN, let us hope that no more nuclear disasters happen in the world.
